The Orion is a luxury 60-floor postwar building with 551 units. Built in 2004, the building features striking views of Midtown, the Hudson River, Hell’s Kitchen and Times Square. As top-tier New York real estate decorated in a modern, minimalist style, the building attracts an ultra-hip crowd. Clean lines and simplistic materials blend with nearly any buyer’s tastes. Since the building is made up of condos, residents own their apartments and often stay for several years.

Close to Times Square and Port Authority, the Orion is in the heart of the city. Residents can access many of the city’s subway lines from the building’s front door. The building is also conveniently located near the Lincoln Tunnel and Highway 495.

Insider Tips

Parks and Nature
The most popular park in the area is Central Park—located only 17 blocks north of the Orion. Residents can enjoy boating, fishing, running and hiking there. Summer arts programs also take place in the Park, like Shakespeare in the Park and the New York Philharmonic orchestra, and are great for the whole family to enjoy.

Even closer than Central Park is Bryant Park. Once one of the seediest areas in the city, Bryant Park is now a local favorite and a Manhattan hotspot. Visitors can ice skate (for free) in the winter and enjoy free movies on the lawn in the summer. The nearby New York Public Library offers an outdoor library when the weather is nice, and ping pong and chess are also played on site. During the holidays, the Bryant Park holiday market—complete with Christmas tree and live music—is another favorite activity for locals.

The nearby High Line is another local and visitor favorite. Created through the generosity of celebrities, like Diane Von Furstenberg and Edward Norton, this once elevated railway has been transformed into miles of walking trails elevated above the city.

Restaurants
Everyone loves Junior’s, a typical Brooklyn diner. Giant cheeseburgers, tasty mac and cheese, over-the-top barbecue and heavenly cheesecake are served here.Carmine’s is a local favorite after a Broadway show. Just make sure to bring plenty of friends—portion sizes were created with sharing in mind.

Nightlife
Nearby Times Square offers plenty of Broadway Theater, and Hell’s Kitchen offers more artsy Off-Broadway shows. The 21 Club is an Orion favorite, where locals can drink prohibition-style cocktails in a historic setting. The nearby clubs in Chelsea are where residents flock when they want to dance until they drop. Made famous in the 1990s by the Club Kids, the Chelsea neighborhood is still the go-to spot for partying.

Shopping
5th Avenue is only a stone’s throw from the Orion. Many locals enjoy waltzing up and down the avenue, peering into stores, like Saks Fifth Avenue, Henri Bendel, Bloomingdales and Bergdorf Goodman. Nearby SoHo also offers more low-key designer shopping. Just a short train or cab ride away from the Orion, this trendy area is known for its huge department stores and locally owned boutiques.
